Absolutely needs to be told! People need to know what’s happening to the elderly mostly women. They have been forgotten!

I think older women need to form collectives, buy land, set up living habitant and mutual support.

Yes, it's already happening. I recently read an article where a 71 year old woman cashed out her 401 K savings and purchased some land on the out skirts of Dallas and set up an RV camp specifically for women in retirement. She formed a community where women helped each other and it's a safe place to be. There is help available should you need it among the community. I thought this was a wonderful idea. The rent was very affordable based on the owner's return on her investment. The average cost of a lot was $435 which included utilities.

I wish I would have saved that article and republished it here on substack. We need more kind souls like her.

AWESOME! Many senior women are widows.

This is awesome, otherwise than it being Texas. We need to do this in other parts of the country! Do you know her name?

I think it’s called Birds Nest.

In the Eastern Orthodox Christian tradition, this is monastic living. It is beautiful inside and out.

I'm here because I'm worried about my future and living in a van would be better than being forced into a nursing home.

I have 32 acres, northern Minnesota. I have bad knees, and shoulder not improving. I am 65. I have firewood to attend to, water to haul. And then in summer add garden and mowing. I have thought about RVING. Possibly buy 1-2 acres, dog yard and garden areas.

I did join RVing Women, but there are a lot of unknowns. And being on the spectrum does not help.

You would be welcome up here if you need a place to get out of the heat. We are having a cold, wet spring. Take care. Dusty

I've been nomadic since 1995, first in RVs, then in vans. Originally by choice, my dream since i was 13 in the 1960s. I had a low paying traveling job but it had no retirement benefits. Since I retired, it's also by necessity, since stationary housing is way out of reach. I'm lucky to be healthy, happy, adaptable, but IDK what I'll do when i can't drive anymore.

I’m in a comfortable living arrangement; my sister & I own a home with a large backyard for our dogs. But we’re tired of mowing the lawn, I want to travel, and the house feels too expensive. And if social security goes away-so does the house. I’d rather be in a less expensive situation, where my sister & I are less dependent on each other, before the economy really tanks. So thank you for this newsletter!
