You will learn a lot. I chose the van life back in 2020 and had no idea that rent prices are what they are today 6 years later. I would be in trouble if I had to pay $2,000 a month rent. I couldn’t do it on my income. Van life is very doable and affordable. I publish a guide on Gumroad to help you get started if you need help. Contact me and I will show you how to buy it for $7. But a lot of people are afraid to try the road life.
That would be great ( the Guide)! I’m not afraid to try road life… but my biggest concern would be where I could safely park and sleep. I’ve read a few articles on joining a gym to take showers. Also not sure on which vans/ campers would be best. Some of them are crazy expensive! Thanks!

Yes, there are groups of ladies that form caravans. There are lots of them in Arizona. You join a group, meet up at a designated time and place and travel. there’s no charge, no obligation and if you want to split from the group, then you split, no strings attached. Cheap RV Living is a great place to find some of these groups you could join. It’s women only.

My wife of 37 years has Alzheimer’s and is in the mid stage of the disease progression. Barring any major catastrophe to befall me, I will be starting over in a few years. I likely will be closer to 70 by then. It’s not something I dwell upon given I am busy being my wife’s sole caregiver, but it does cross my mind. It’s scary and exciting at the same time.
Anything new and the unknown is always scary. But it’s a life that offers a new beginning. And you will need that when your wife is gone. It takes a lot out of a person to be a caregiver. But life goes on and we have choices to make. It’s not easy either way you choose.
I’m still figuring things out one sunrise at a time. -- me too! with my coffee... my porch is a bit different to yours... it's the awning of the caravan, and the view I choose is across a sun burnt ''grassed'' area, to a cane field. I am a gray nomad, currently in tropical far north Queensland Australia. Looking forward to your next post! :) Sharyn
