Welcome!

Not as a vacation. Not as a phase.
This is my life.

I write about what it means to survive in America when the ground gives out beneath you—about homelessness, starting over, and the long road back to something that feels like home.

Some days are quiet.
Some days are hard.
All of them are real.

This Substack is where I tell the truth.

You’ll find stories from the road, reflections on what it’s like to grow older without a safety net, and the small moments that still matter—coffee in the morning, a safe place to park, a conversation that reminds you, you’re not invisible.

I’m also writing a novel about a man named Smitty, a veteran living under a bridge in New Orleans, trying to buy a piece of land and build a life again. Parts of that journey may appear here.

If you’ve ever:

  • wondered how people really live when they lose everything

  • felt like you had to start over later in life

  • or just want to understand a side of America most people don’t see

—you’re in the right place.

Some posts are free.
Some go deeper and are for paid subscribers who want to support my writing and this journey.

If my work speaks to you, I’m glad you’re here.

If these stories matter to you, consider becoming a paid subscriber. It helps me keep writing—and keeps this journey going.
