Why I Love Camping at Texas and New Mexico State Parks
I feel safe camping in Texas and New Mexico State Parks.
My site built home is located in Louisiana near the Texas border. I shop a lot in Texas and frequent the lakes there. I love Texas. But Louisiana is “where I call home”.
Did you know that Texas has 88 State Parks scattered across the state? Yes 88!
That’s quite a big number. Texas seems to go all out for their parks, making them accomodating for the camper. Most have nice clean showers and bathrooms available near the campspots. Camping trails are mapped out and clean. No trash or debri allowed. Texas parks have strict rules (which are necesary) to keep the park grounds looking beauitful.
Last year I learned you can purchase a Texas State Pass for $70 that is good for one year. With this pass you can gift a pass for only $25 to a second party. I think this is a good deal. The Pass allows you free day use and lower prices for nightly camping.
Campspots with 30 amp electrical hookups that include water costs $11 per night. They have more discounts if you want a weekly rate. The limit is 14 days that you can stay at one time at any one Texas State Park. Security is provided and the grounds are kept immaculate at all times. Texas does it up right.
New Mexico offers a yearly pass for $225 per camp spot. You will need to pay additional fees for electrical hookups. But if you want to go dry camping then their is no extra charge for anything.
I think this would be a good deal for someone who is solar equipped. You will have everything needed to enjoy nature and be comfortable.
Pecos Canyon State Park
I’ve not stayed at Pecos Canyon State Park, but plan to when I map out my trail. First, I’ll be camping mostly in East Texas area from now until the end of December. The Fall weather is usally lovely in Texas and it’s not too far to travel to the coast and camp on the Gulf for a few days and work on my novel.
Last week I met Daphne Gray (writer on Visual Thesaurus) and she turned me on to Grammar Girl. I was very impressed with the website. It’s a site that I can find quick answers to grammar questions.
Sometimes I forget how to use “who” or “whom” and often I need to refresh my memory on using words like so, just, whilst, and very. When we want to cut the fat from our writing, we need to eliminate extra words such as “very”.
I hope you found this information about the parks useful and more is to come next Tuesday.
Thanks for reading!
Kindly,
Carol
