Lived almost 6years in a van, then a trailer I purchased. Moving socks, but it is a part of this lifestyle. Planted a small container garden(salads), took a job at the campground I "lived" in. Had a full time job at a ski hill. I understand your situation. I'm not a writer, but this is great idea you have. Walmart was a place to count on back then, but not now.. I made a deal with the campground owners to clean campsites and keep the shower rooms, bathrooms clean. However, I'm on land I own now, have cancer, and can't live like that anymore. Hope things turn out for you!!!

Thank you Bonny. I'm happy to learn you were given the chance to experience this lifestyle. I enjoy it . I hope your cancer goes away soon. I know it's a tough row to handle. May God Bless you.

To you two, thanks for the acknowledgement. Actually, I learned a lot!! Some survival, some societal..it was something I needed, will always treasure..keep going!!

I am surprised you list power as an expense. Can you not get by with solar power, or is the capital cost of the setup simply too much?

In the UK, I would expect parking costs to replace rent. In many (over)crowded countries, you can't just park where you like anymore, even if there are places still called "common" land.

Well done and thank you for the inspiration.

Thanks Carol I follow your posts with interest. As I have a van with a “For Sale” sign on it. It works well as some were to over night it, but it is not fun to drive. I’m changing my priorities. Fortunately I have a town house to live in.

My vehicle has only 29,000 miles on it. Exceptionally low. Many of the ones I see listed have a two in Frount of that figure, and had a previous hard life as a commercial vehicle. Where I am getting to here is you need to be prepared for a break down and significant repair bill. The easy and relatively inexpensive part is be a member of a motoring organisation that will tow your van to a repair shop. The expensive part is required repairs can be quite expensive think $5k for a motor or transmission rebuild. Before you start your new Van life. This represents sound risk management.
