As different as night is to day, the road calls to some, and the rest are excluded. The road called to me for 46 years, but because it was work it was more of a theft. The road still calls, although now, I try to pretend that “No, I couldn’t possibly, it’s just not the time for me to go again.” I stay at home and hope people find my place on IOverlander, to tell me of their travels.

Love reading your stories.

Hi Jack,

Do you rent to travelers via IOverlander? Some lady ask me yesterday, if I knew of any resources that could rent to traveling solo women. And I told her about Walmart, Cracker Barrell and Love's truck stop would be safe places. And also some cities offer safe parking spots that are gated and have security. Some are free and some are paid.

Staying at my place near Madison, WI. Is free. It is a welcome to travelers from anywhere in the world.

74. Great friend, but i have been a LOUSY husband. Part-time with the county. Solid-waste "tec hnician".(lol). Enjoy interacting with people, reading the Bible, going to church. Would love to travel. Keep on, lady

Thank you John. Traveling is good for the soul, but also being structured reading the Bible and going to church sharing community with like minded people is also fulfilling to the soul. If you truly believe that someday when you leave this earth, that you are going to a better place where there is no sorrow or suffering...then you have something to be excited about each new day. Don't you think so John?

I find your life rather perfect! 😍

I’ve crossed the threshold and I’m now going downhill (or so they say after 40), but I believe the next 20 years are going to be my best yet.

My dream life- and I’m on my way to achieving it- is to finish up my tiny home, do a few more improvements to my property, plant more fruit trees, and then either rent the whole thing out, or charge a friend to be caretaker while I camper van anywhere and everywhere. I’d quit my job, and either do remote work or pick up odd jobs as I go along. I have a broad résumé and a plethora of useful skills, so I’m certain I could find work anywhere.

At this moment, I’m about $50,000 away from achieving my dream life, and at age 41 that doesn’t seem so impossible. 💕

Hi ElliRae,

You are more ahead at living a full life than most people. I admire you for seeing the better path at such a young age. And as the future unfolds, you can certainly support yourself on the road virtually. More jobs are opening all the time as technology advances. Good luck on completing your tiny house and feel free to reach out to me for any advice. I've been traveling in my camper van for almost 6 years now. Mostly out west. I try to avoid crowds as much as possible.

Out of curiosity, what mobile/remote work do you find (if you don’t mind me asking)? I’ve been looking at taking on some web-based side work to both help me achieve my $50,000 goal here faster and also to have an established foot in the door before I quit my job and live as my true Gypsy self 😉

We can move this to a private chat if you want to protect your privacy- I full respect that! 🙂

Great story. Still have that need to travel but am also content to ride my 🐎 horse, write this middle grade book 📖 and dream more.

Hi Edna,

It's so good to hear that you want to dream more. Since I'm a fantasizer I chase new dreams all the time. Dreams are so important to living the best life, don't you think so?

I want to live by wolf rules. (Rule #1: Tune your ears.) I want human family close, to bounce a great grandbaby on my knee, to be healthy enough to play with my doggies and grow my garden, to feed the birds. And when its time to go ( I’m okay to go), leave while watching the stars.

Hi Gramma,

I hope all your dreams come true one day at a time. I grow gardens and love my 16 year old Tibeten terrier, so I know how you feel. Birds are a fascinating creature for anyone to watch. Birds remind me of my freedom. Do you feel like that about birds. Just like fish in the sea, there are so many birds in the sky. And my favorite bird of all...is the ordainary chicken.
