I visited America last year and was shocked with homelessness in big prosperous cities like San Francisco and Los Angelas. That was not the picture I was expecting to see in first world country. Your article is spot on. Expensive places need to look at other ways of providing roof over the head of those who are struggling.

Neera, I too was shocked when I visited San Diego last May and saw all the homeless people due to no fault of their own. Older people who are on a fixed income cannot pay rising rent costs. Landlords jump at the chance to get rich off the backs of struggling Americans. I wish our government would put a ceiling on how much a landlord can charge rent for the disabled and people on a fixed income. Hopefully, if Kamala gets into office, she will address the problem and do something about it, before it gets any worse.

P.S. Im sitting on my back porch in the cool of the evening. It is starting to grow dark and soon will be. I raise chickens and I wait for the crew to go to bed, then I lock them up and go back inside and do what I usually do...read and write and get ready to go to bed. I imagine the sun is shining in Canterberry and it's early morning. I hope you have a creative day. Talk soon.
