3 Reasons Not to Hoard Stuff — Get Rid of Clutter in Your Life
Stuff gets in my way. I don’t want it anymore.
Stuff gets in my way. I don’t want it anymore.

I have too much stuff. Even though I have most of my things hanging in closets or stored in boxes, I never use it anymore. I guess I think that someday — I’ll use it and when I want it I’ll have it. I guess I think this is a way of saving money. This is the mindset of the post WW II community.
Things are different now. It’s easier than ever to purchase an item that you may need at very little cost. Besides, you may not be able to find that saved item if you have too much junk to sift through.
Stuff Takes Up Space
Storage building businesses are booming. People have so much stuff — they go out and rent space to house their belongings. Usually the rent cost more than the stuff is worth. But I guess, people’s stuff has sentimental value. It’s worth paying for storage.
Why can’t we let go of our stuff? As a rule of thumb, if you haven’t worn a piece of clothing in 6 months, you need to get rid of it. Why let items of clothing just hang in your closet, thinking someday when I lose weight I ‘m going to wear it again. Or maybe you’re hanging on to things hoping that someday you will be thankful.
But how will you really feel after a month of letting things go? Will you feel remorseful?
Stuff is associated with the past
I have things that have sentimental value — like my photos. I like having my photos in boxes or albums, so I can touch them. I like digital too, but I would rather have paper photos.
It pleases me to look at old memories. I like reminiscing about the old days. Maybe this is part of the reason that I want to hang on to furniture, dishes and certain items.
But I’m working on letting all those things go. I would like nothing better than to give them to someone who needs my stuff, but it’s hard to find that someone. So, I guess I’ll donate my items to Goodwill.
Ridding yourself of stuff gives you a new freedom
When I was younger, I would get a charge out of shopping and collecting cheap items. I loved bargain sales. Not so much anymore. I have more than I need and now I have the burden of taking care of all these things that I don’t care about anymore.
Now I have the burden of going through all the boxes of stored items and giving it away. It will take so much of my time, but the sooner I get to it the better off I’ll feel about myself.
I’m going to feel much lighter.
It would be nice to have the cash in the bank for all this unwanted stuff. Nevertheless, I want to dispose of it and feel that light feeling of freedom. I ‘m not tied down with stuff — well I think I ‘ll’ love my new life.
The hardest part about getting rid of stuff is remembering how hard you had to work to pay for it. I know. It’s difficult to throw it in the garbage bin, so I guess I’ll donate it to Goodwill or someone who may be having a garage sale.
